Pumpkin Patch + Pinkie Purple Project & Splash - Mélanie


 Last Monday, some Nortwest School's friends (including my pen-friend) and I worked for an association in nursery school to reach money to help children infected from Polio. The idea was that members of Rotary and Interact clubs would go around local schools where students would become involved in the project and donate a dollar. One dollar is all it costs to vaccinate someone from Polio. To remind the student of how their dollar can save a life, we painted their pinkie purple as well.







WE REACHED ABOUT 850$!! THAT'S AMAZING, RIGHT?

Think about how many children we can vaccinate :) I'm so proud!





Wednesday, I went with Sophie, my exchange student, to a "Pumpkin Patch" to get some pumpkins for Halloween. There were so many, and a lot of pretty ones! Different sizes and different colors too. We got 7.

Finally, Saturday night, I worked for another association "Splash" which goal is to donate for Ethiopia's children to have clean water. My work was to explain to people in what this project was about and to try to convince them to donate what they wanted to because every dollar can help those children to have a safe life. Well, Splash project also concerns Cambodia, China, Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam but we were only looking for donations for Ethiopia. There was also an auction sale and we could play some Vegas Games like the Roulette and Black Jack. My host family has donated 3 000$, isn't it amazing?!

    So pleased to read that you have participated in such nice humanitarian actions.
    Did you meet volunteers ? Did you ask them questions regarding their objectives ? Tell me, you know I am a kind of curious teacher !!!

    I was glad to do it!
    Unfortunately I didn't :( but I asked my family some questions like since how many time did they participated to those humanitarian actions and why those ones and they told me that it wasn't automatically what people think about when they hear "humanitarian action" but that's as important as another one. And they participate since 3 years.
